Happy Birthday Norah!

7:34 AM

Today is my little Doodle Bug's 1st birthday!!!  We have been so blessed over this past year with God's kindness to us.  Norah is such a gift and brings so much joy to our house.  She is talking up a storm!!  Her favorite words are: eat (ate), more (mo-mo), Papa (papa), sit (siiiiii).  She is absolutely precious!  Give her a call today - she loves to talk on the phone!  =)

Here are some pictures to look over the past 12 months with our Daughter.  If you click on the pictures you can see them better and there are captions that say her milestones each month.

Big Girl

1:30 PM

My Norah is such a big girl these days. She now has her 2 top teeth and drum roll please....she is WALKING! She still crawls if she needs to get somewhere fast, but for the most part she is walking. I'll post more pictures soon. Here is one if you look close you can see both her teeth. =) Oh, and the other one I put her hair in pigtails! It really looked so silly, but it made me laugh so we kept it. It kind of looked like a mullet with two rattails. Oh well, she doesn't care about what she looks like, yet!

5K Run

7:26 AM

Seth and I recently participated in the IOA corporate 5K run with Campus Crusade.  There were 10,600 people there!  It was huge.  I had such a good time being with my Husband and being able to run/walk with him.  He stuck with me almost the entire time, until the end when he wanted to sprint to the finish line.  I was doing my best to keep moving and not throw up!  =)  We went into it saying we were only going to walk - I was just getting over my sickness and Seth was starting to feel sick.  However, when the race began our competitiveness took over and we decided to run.  We did walk for about a mile but we didn't like all the people passing us so we ran the last mile.  =)  Seth finished the race in a little under 35 minutes I finished 30 seconds after him.  It was such a good feeling completing the race and doing it with Seth.  I am SO SO SO EXCITED about our cruise coming up, just the two of us.  I can't wait to have all that alone time with him.

I have some absolutely adorable pictures and a video to post soon from our trip to Sea World.  Keep watching...

Life is Spinning - literally

10:20 AM

Well, it turns out my allergies are not allergies.  I thought my stuffy nose this past week was just allergies from my dusty house.  =)  However, I woke up this morning very dizzy and nauseated (no I am not pregnant) so I decided to go see a Doctor.  I turns out I have an upper respiratory infection and vertigo.  I got the vertigo because I let me cold turn into an infection - whoops!  He put me on medication but he said I will be extremely tired when I take it so I will wait until Seth gets home.  Hopefully this will clear up soon because Seth's sister Jessica is coming on Saturday!

Norah is doing good.  She started getting a runny nose this morning.  I think it is her teeth - she is also drooling like crazy.  She woke up 3 times last night crying.  She kept sticking her hands in her mouth so that is why I think it is teeth.  She still only has the 2 bottom teeth.  You would never know by all the things this little girl can eat!

Her favorite toy lately has been Horton from Horton Hears A Who.  This blue elephant is almost as big as she is!  She takes him everywhere and is always giving him big kisses!  Thanks Nonna!!  I'll try to get a picture of the 2 of them and post soon.

Lytle Family Update

2:51 PM

I haven't posted in forever!  I am nearing the end of my school year teaching so I have lots of work to finish out the year.  It has been very busy around here.

Norah Doodle had her 9 month check up last week and she is doing amazing - very healthy.  She is still only 15.5 lbs - she falls in the 10th percentile for weight.  She is nearing 27" and that puts her in the 50th for height!

She is loving crawling and being able to in her own house!  The fleas are still gone on the inside - praise the Lord! They are pretty bad outside.  We hired terminix to come and help us out.  The man that came said we have one of the worst cases of fleas he has seen!  That creeped me out, but at the same time made me feel good that someone else agreed with me.  =)

Oh, the cutest thing she is doing at the moment is this fake laugh.  I don't know where she picked it up but she will sit in her car seat or around the house and I can hear her fake laughing.  I can't really explain it you just have to hear it.  I'll try to get a recording.  She is also standing up on her own in the middle of the floor.  She will dance and clap for a few seconds and then get down and crawl to a new spot and stand again.  I kind of hope she doesn't start walking yet.  She is too little!

I need to go get dinner out of the oven - baked ziti tonight!!  YUM-O  =)

9 months old and FLEA FREE

5:27 AM

Here are a few pictures I took of Norah last night as she was able to freely crawl around the house without fleas.  Yup, that's right!  NO MORE FLEAS!  It is such a wonderful feeling.  Although I still am vacuuming like crazy (with a new vacuum Seth bought me!!) and I will keep checking our feet and clothing for them for a while.

We are packing up the van and taking a road trip today.  We are going  up to Georgia for a week to be with Seth's family.  We haven't seen them since the beginning of December.  I know they are looking forward to seeing little Norah - who isn't so little anymore.  =(  I'll post when we get back...

The Cutest Kid!

Norah & Bristol at the Park

12:08 PM

Can you believe I am posting pictures 2 days in a row!  =)  Ashley and I took the girls to Lake Monroe today for a picnic.  We had so much fun!  The girls enjoyed getting dirty and eating leaves.  Norah did a face plant into the dirt and got a mouth full!  I think Ashley got a picture.  The weather was beautiful.  I can't wait to do it again!!

FLEA WORLD

8:25 PM

And no I do not mean the shopping place!  Our house has been overtaken by FLEAS, the kind that never die.  Today marks a week from the first outbreak.  We have tried just about everything!

  • Spraying our house with this crazy strong flea killing spray (3 times)  -DIDN'T WORK
  • Removing all cushions, curtains, rugs and pillows and spraying those  -STILL NOTHING
  • Putting out glass jars sprayed with PAM (weird tip we heard) -NOPE!
  • Filling jars with soapy water and placing them around the house -CAUGHT 2 FLEAS
  • Coating our house with Borax -WORKED!  BUT ONLY FOR 2 DAYS  =(
We thought we had the end of the pesky little bugs.  However, tonight I have found 20 without even trying.  I am really frustrated and ready to have my house back - I don't like sharing it.  Oh and for Bauer, he has been out on the porch for a week...WITH NO FLEAS!  Yes, Bauer is flea free and probably laughing at us thinking "payback!"  Norah, well she is getting held a lot.

Tomorrow is another day and probably another crazy home remedy...Brings a whole new meaning to "don't let the bed bugs bite!!"

Big Day!!

12:45 PM

Norah had so many firsts today!!  You ready for this?!

  • FIRST tooth! (on the bottom)
  • Clapping her hands when you say "Yeah Norah"
  • Waving and saying "ba"
Holy cow!  I knew they were all coming soon, but I didn't expect it all in ONE DAY!  =)  Oh yeah, and I have a first - my first mini van!!  Yup, that's right!  We got the Honday Odyssey on Monday night.  It is such a huge blessing from God.  I love it so much.

Promise, pictures soon!

My Cutie

7:21 AM

This picture was just too cute not to post.  Norah finally has enough hair to wear a bow =)  She loved it!!  She would stick her hand up on her head to just feel it.  She wouldn't pull it out, she just wanted to make sure it was there.  She really reminds me of Heather in this picture.  Mom, what do you think?

We went to see Shamu on Saturday for the first time!!  I'll post pictures soon.  She got scared during the show but I think with time she will love Sea World.  I know I did when I was little.

So keep your fingers crossed but we might be getting a van tonight!!  Seth and I cannot believe we are excited about a mini van - I guess we are getting old?  =)  We will be driving to St. Pete tonight after I get off work to look at a Honda Odyssey and possible drive it home.  It looks extremely nice so I hope it all works out.  Heather is buying my car and I am very glad that she will have it because I still really, really love my car.  I always get sad when we have to get rid of a car.  Isn't it silly?  So I know it will be going to a good home.

Okay, gotta run.  Make sure you check out the video below.  It is possibly the funniest thing you will see this year!!!  =)

Norah Belly Laughing

7:42 PM

7 1/2 months old!!

2:38 PM

Norah is crawling everywhere!!   Just today she has discovered that there is life beyond the rug in the family room.  As I write this she is underneath the table, who knows what is under there!  Oh boy, I am going to have to really keep my floors cleaned now.  =)

She also is pulling herself up on anything she can find.  The only unfortunate thing about it is she does not have very good balance so she is doing her fair share of falling.

Her favorite position to play in is on her knees.  It is the cutest thing.  I will try to get a picture.  She is talking, laughing, screaming randomly, and eating toast (teething thing).  Still no teeth though for my little Doodle Bug!  I hope they come in real soon for all of our sake.  =)

Well, I need to go and grade papers.  I'll post more pictures soon, but for now you can look at some really cute ones of Bristol and Norah on my Mom's Blog!

Home Remedies

8:08 AM

Do they work?  I guess it depends on who you ask!  I recently heard of a home remedy to cure the common cold.

You take Vick's vapor rub and massage it into the bottom of your feet.  Then put on white socks and go to bed!  Presto!  When you wake up you will feel like a new person.

I am bringing this up because we are still sick!  Norah is not getting better, despite the humidifier.  She was up all night last night coughing and this morning her nose is incredibly stuffy.  I feel so bad that I cannot help her!  I went up to CVS and bought Children's Vick's Vapor Rub.  It hasn't seemed to work, YET!  Fingers are still crossed.

Do any of you have any home remedies that you used when your children were sick?  I would like to hear them!  No matter how crazy they are!!

I wonder if I can use red socks instead???  =)

Family Update

5:14 AM

It has been awhile since I posted. All last week I was fasting from the internet!! It was hard, but I did it! =) Now, everyone here in the Lytle home is sick. We have some sort of bad cold, nasty coughing, stuffy noses and headaches. Poor little Norah didn't know how to cough at first. It was so sad. She knows now and it keeps her up at night. We went to the Doctor and they said there is no medicine for me or Norah. She is too small for it and I am still breast feeding so we just have to wait it out. It can take up to 10 days for it to start clearing up. I am praying it is much quicker. We have been sick since Sunday so we have a few days under our belt.

Well, one good thing that happened...Norah learned her first sign! I am so proud. She does "MORE" when she is eating. It is absolutely adorable. However, now that she is sick she won't do it anymore. I have a picture of her doing it. I'll try to post it soon.

Gotta go!

Norah 6 1/2 Months

6:54 PM

Norah is getting so big!  We had her 6 month Dr. appointment today.  She is a healthy baby despite her skinny little body.  She is only 13lbs 1oz - falling into the 5% range for her age.  The Dr. wants to see her next month to see how much weight she gained.  She is 50% for her height so I know she is growing.  She is just like her Aunt Heather the feather =)

She still isn't totally crawling.  As you can see in the pictures she is really trying!  She does get herself around though.  I'm not sure how she does it!  She is sitting up all by herself.  However, she gets really excited and starts to rock which usually ends with her hitting her head on the ground.  So Seth went out and bought us a rug for the family room!  It is so pretty and soft.  Norah loves to play on it.  She still cries when she falls, but it doesn't last nearly as long.  =)

She loves to talk.  Don't all girls?  Her favorite sound at the moment is screaming.  It is cute right now - we'll see how long it lasts!  She also loves to say "da da da".  I am working on the "ma ma" but she just gives me a blank stare.   Oh well!

I have videos coming...

New Post - finally

4:45 PM

My life has been so busy lately trying to keep this blog updated has been hard!  Norah is finally getting back on her schedule from New Jersey.  Although, I think tomorrow night's big lock-in at Metro might send us back again!  =(  She still has not cut any teeth.  She has been acting like it for a week now!  I know, I know, all you Mom's out there are laughing at me.  But come on, the poor child needs a break!

Norah has found her favorite food...GREEN BEANS!  She eats them like crazy and she doesn't get it everywhere.  She makes sure every last spoonful gets into her mouth!  She is so cute I should get a video.  With every bite she gets a big smile, the food goes in, and she makes a "Mmmm" noise the entire bite!  She sure makes those mushed up green beans look yummy.  =)

Until I get that video recorded and posted - who knows how long that could be!  Here is a video of her opening up her big present from Nonna and Papa.  She LOVES this toy and so do Seth and I - it can keep her entertained for 45 minutes!

From Norah...Great Grandpa and Grandma Jill, thank you so much for my clothes and toys.  I love them so much!  I'll take pictures soon with my new outfits, as soon as it gets cold here in Florida!  =)

Norah Crawls - sort of

9:27 AM

Still Recovering...

6:13 PM

Well, I am 3 days post teeth extraction.  My face is swollen, as to be expected, and I am in pain.  I stopped taking the heavy pain killers today so I can start to come back to earth.  Everything went great - Norah is back to nursing - I just can't talk to her or smile yet.  She does seem to think I look pretty funny and laughs at me.  I don't think she ever knew we switched things up on her for the 24 hours after my surgery.  =)  Thank you all for praying...Now if I can just eat a salad...ah, I have been craving one!
